Primarily it is about personal development as a dancer, about learning, pushing yourself beyond your boundaries to be the best dancer you can be, with help and thought along the way. Yes, there will be a winner at the end, a chance to perform in front of a panel of professionals and stars of the belly dance world, as well as a live audience. But the most important thing about the Challenge is to take a journey of discovery, delving a little deeper into the choices you make, with the option to seek help and encouragement from mentors as you go along.
All competitors take part in the first 4 challenges. Each challenge is judged and feedback sent to the performer to enable you to develop your dance.
After the 4th challenge, some dancers will be eliminated.
After the 5th challenge, the finalists will be chosen who will perform at the Fantasia Gala show.
So, whether you make it through to the finals or not, you will receive valuable feedback from 4 challenges to help you continue to develop your dance. You will also have access to six group mentoring sessions run by Yasmina of Cairo and Carmen Tormo – a place to ask questions and engage with our other participants. If you cannot join these sessions live they will be recorded so you can catch up later.

- 6 pieces of detailed feedback on first four challenges from different perspectives
- 7 mentoring meetings to discuss development and advise in challenges.

Registration
After you have registered, please send us a recording of yourself performing a Majence or piece of oriental music of your own choice. It can be something you already have, providing it is footage from a recent performance, or it can be something you record especially, in your own space. It may contain a drum solo but please do not submit a drum solo by itself. You will not receive any feedback on this, but the Bellydance Now Team will use it as a reference as to where you are currently in your dance development.
You must also let us know which category you would like to enter when booking your place:
Category 1: Dancer, teacher, student or professional – final stage performing live at Fantasia
Category 2: Dancer, teacher, student or professional – final stage performing live on zoom at Fantasia (ie those that know they cannot travel to London for 17th February 2024, the Fantasia Festival but want to take part in our challenge)
Category 3: Amateur dancers with less experience wanting to develop their skills
