‘Tools for Discovering and Developing Your Personal Dance Style’
From technique to artistry: Discover the courage to stop simply following steps, and start becoming the dancer only you can be.
Over five days, we’ll explore music, movement, and expression in a way that helps you feel more free, authentic, and confident in your dance. It’s about moving out of a regular student mindset, and stepping into your own artistry and expression.

This program is not about “finding your style” over 5 days. Instead, it’s about equipping you with practical tools, clear guidance, and EMBODIED experiences that will help you uncover and refine your own voice in dance over time.

Day 1: Embodying the movement
In this workshop, we’ll explore how to connect with the origin of each movement in your body, creating grounded, fluid, and intentional execution. You’ll discover how emotional expression shapes your technique, and how strong technique can, in turn, convey a powerful emotional message.

Day 2: Understanding Arabic Music (with Pedro)
Let’s demystify and deconstruct the main elements of Arabic music and apply these concepts in specially designed combos. Learn the differences between sounds of different instruments, the relationship between melodies, taksims and ornamentations, and use the rich tapestry of musical styles to enhance your dancing and really appreciate the synergy of dance and music.

Day 3: Music Interpretation & Choreographic Choices
We will work with several different combos to the SAME piece of music, compare and analyze them, and explore how multiple interpretations can coexist. This process will enrich your choreographic skills and offer fresh solutions whenever you feel “stuck” in creation.

Day 4: From Student to Artist: How to Interpret a Choreography in Your Own Way
When you learn choreography from a teacher—whether in a live workshop or online class —you can perform it as an excellent student, OR interpret and present it with your own artistic touch. Together, we’ll explore what makes the difference and how to bring your unique voice into any choreography.

Day 5: Personal Expression in Drum Solo Improvisation (with Pedro)
Step into the thrill of improvisation as you bring your personality into a drum solo. Develop confidence in communicating with the drummer, stay in sync with the music from start to finish, and most importantly—learn to enjoy the spontaneity of the process.
