At our week long summer school, we have different option.
This option is suitable for dancers of all levels. It includes 2 days with live music as well as classes on the theory behind it and a host of other classes.
Arrive Friday 16th August, Depart Tuesday 20th August 2024.
4 days – all accommodation and meals provided. All tuition (over 40 hours of classes to choose from), shows and party nights included. This is great value at only £550 per person in a group room.
We only have 3 x triple rooms and 1 x 4 bedded room at the group rate. If you book, please email to say who else will be booking to share the room.
It includes 40 hours of classes to choose from – some with live music, some without. From fun and quirky options to those that challenge and inform. Classes with live music, amazing teachers and a hafla with the option to perform. This will really make a difference to your dance. Expect to go home inspired!
Arrive Friday from 2pm. Join in our ice breaker classes Friday evening to meet everyone at Summer school.
Saturday: Introductions and recognising rhythms: Rhythm interpretation with Yasmina and Tabla player: Playing basic rhythms with Tim Garside: Creating a drum solo with Yasmina and Tim.
Sunday: 3 classes focussing on different styles and introducing different singers and composers to your repertoire. The last class will break down a magency looking at the rhythms and styles within it.
Monday: Recognising Instruments with Jo Wise then nearly 4 hours working with our band putting theory into practice with Yasmina.
Tuesday: A morning class looking at your musical route map and the way forward. Depart after lunch.
This option doesn’t not include the project with Julia Farid but it does include options at all levels. Our classes with live music are taught by Yasmina of Cairo who has a wealth of knowledge and years of experience performing with bands in Cairo.
If you are doing this as the culmination of our on line music course ‘Bellydance Music Explored’ there are certain classes you have to attend. If not you can go to whichever you fancy
