This is the in-person and live element of our Level 2 Teaching Diploma. It has over 60 hours of learning of which the majority is taught live online over 6 days spread over 5 months to allow you to study from home and complete assignments. There are also in-person elements that can be completed at either of our two main flagship events: The International Summer School and Shimmy up North. International students who are unable to travel to England to attend these can apply for our Online Only Certification.
The course is suitable for
Those wishing to develop their teaching practice or considering beginning to teach. This course builds upon the content of the Level 1 Teaching Certification (formerly known as the Safety Course), and incorporates an understanding the Music used for bellydance as well as key elements of the History and Culture surrounding the dance, synthesizing a full and rounded range of background knowledge and teaching techniques. Participants in this course must have achieved a minimum dance technique level of Lower Intermediate.

- Choreography, a variety of Dance Styles and for Improvisation
- Recognising and developing your own teaching persona
- How to teach Props
- Methods for the analysis of technique
- The art of observing students
- Student/Class management
- Course Planning (includes thinking about planning for your first term of beginners’ classes)
- Dance classes and individual tuition for the revision and development of technique and dance styles
- Networking and developing links for future success

When you sign up to our Level 2 Teaching Diploma you will automatically get a discount on the Music and History and Culture modules that you need to have completed ahead of our first weekend of live classes. If you have already finished the Music and History & Culture courses, then you will be eligible to a discount, and can also re-subscribe to these modules at a reduced rate. Please enquire upon application.
Those enrolled on the Level 2 Teaching Diploma, will be able to take part in two online group mentoring sessions to help you integrate and/or complete your Music and History and Culture elements. They will take place on Saturday 12th September from 10am for the History and Culture elements and Sunday 27th September from 10am for the Music element (the dates are set but the topics may swap in the order they are covered).
