Description
Coming from Alexandria and its port.
Iskandarani is a very playful and shy dance. Often danced in a short dress, a melleah laff, shoes or not, a colorful hair accessorie and maybe a face veil, you choose.
There is evidence to show, that the women used to dance for the men who came in ship in the port.
Mahmoud Reda brought the stage version of Iskandarani with beautiful choreographies. He used the idea of playful and flirtatious to give the dance a distinct feel. Soft moves, a lot of moving around the stage with ballet steps influence, melleah laff veil moves and unique Egyptian style.
Please bring a melaya or a veil to use as a melaya – it wraps around the dancer.
