Below is the timetable for Fantasia in February 2023
We have Superstar packages with Brenda Diaz and Abeer Will which include Fantasia plus workshops on the Sunday as well.
We also have a Fantasia VIP package which includes workshops with Brenda and Yasmina of Cairo on the Saturday.

Our Gala show will start with the finalists of our Bellydance Now International Challenge.  These dancers are amazing – come and see if your favourite wins.  Also performances from guest dancers and our stars:  Yasmina, Abeer and Brenda Diaz.

Here is our timetable and below that a description of each workshop and lecture to help you choose.

Workshop and lecture descriptions are below:

Saturday 4th Feb 2023 at The London Irish Centre, Camden
You can book on the workshops individually or treat yourself to one of our great value packages.

9.30 – 11.30    Abeer Will     Hagalla & Bedouin dance and culture  £37
Abeer will spend an hour each on these two different dance styles.  She will start by describing their life and culture, their music and it’s context.  Abeer will go through a range of steps and moves associated with each style and show how they work with the music.

10 – 12.00    Brenda Diaz    Oriental Technique  £37
Brenda breaks down technique and looks how it can be incorporated into your dance.  Brenda uses clear explanations, is very approachable and has a great sense of humour.

12 – 13.30   Abeer Will      Cairo Melaya  £30
Different to Alexandrian melaya dance, Abeer explains it’s history and teaches some technique, steps and combinations.  She talks about the sassy and fun characterisation and you get to develop your own Cairo Melaya character.

12.15 – 13.15    Kay Taylor      Lecture / Video clips ‘Cairo Now’   £15
Kay talks about the dance scene in Cairo now and looks at the different venues we can see dancers in – and how this affects how they present their shows.

13.30 – 14.30    Yasmina of Cairo     Discussion / talk  ‘Why do we dance?’  £15
Why do we dance?  Yasmina explores stories of connection, disconnection, motivation and joy.

13.40 – 15.40     Brenda Diaz       Pop Up Shaabi  £37
Brenda will work with an Ahmed Adaweya song using authentic shaabi steps, hand gestures and facial expressions used in shaabi by Egyptians.  Brenda sets in context when you would use this within your set in Cairo today.
The choreography encapsulates all of the above.  Bring a galabaya with you …… there will be the option of a pop up dance with this at the Gala show ……

14.40 – 15.40      Abeer Will      Lecture  Folklore in Egypt  £20
Why Egyptians love Folklore dance.  Why does folklore have such a special place in the hearts of Egyptians and why it is important for oriental dancers.

15.50 – 17.10     Yasmina of Cairo      Getting technical with transitions  £27
How to link beautiful combos effortlessly and flow from one move to another.

16.00 – 17.00     Carmen Tormo   Lecture   Dancers you should follow on Instagram  £15
A look at the plethora of dancers on instagram – who should you follow?
Includes clips and information about the dancers.

10.30 – 12.30     Brenda Diaz    Tabla Solo for Stage  £37
High impact drum solo choreography for stage.  Wow your audience with minimal impact on the body.

10.30 – 12.30    Abeer Will      Saidi  £30
Proud and grounded, start your Sunday morning with this Saidi choreography by Abeer Will.  Abeer loves Saidi and can’t wait to share this session with you.

13.00 – 15.00    Brenda Diaz    Feminine Singer of Golden Era  £37
Brenda loves the singers of the Golden Era like Maida el Henawy, Warda, Dalila or Nagat.  She will choose one of their songs and explain the lyrics.  Brenda will teach a choreography expressing the emotions.  She describes it as ‘very feminine’.

13.00 – 15.00    Abeer Will    Discover pure feeling  £30
Using a beautiful song, Ma Bysalash Alia, Abeer will explain the words, meaning and emotion.  She will look at ways of interpreting the song and it’s lyrics to get that authentic Egyptian feel.
